Session Description:
Exploring Oral Health Professions is a program designed for high school aged Health Occupations students in order to highlight the exciting possibilities and opportunities in the Dental Hygiene field. Students will gain a better understanding of overall oral health care and learn what is necessary to gain entrance into the field both academically and professionally.

Donna Miller, Georgia Highlands Dental Hygiene Program Director, will discuss important issues and topics related to admissions standards, educational requirements, and special tips to ensure the best possible outcomes for students wanting to pursue this career path. This program will air live and will continue with an archived video component on Day 2.

Session Objectives:
Session participants will:
  • Discuss career pathways and specialties in the field of Oral Health
  • Discuss high school preparation
  • Discuss admission/educational requirements, work environments, and salaries
  • Discuss trends in the area of Oral Health
  • Feature the career of Dental Hygiene in the field of Oral Health

Technology Requirements:
Participants registering for programs should have access to the following technology for best viewing and participation:
  • Personal computer with Macintosh or Windows with 512 MB of RAM
  • Broadband internet connection such as an office LAN, DSL, or cable modem
  • Phone next to personal computer (or speaker phone if multiple people are viewing)
  • Computer speakers (built-in or attached)
  • Latest version of Adobe Flash which can be downloaded for free at http://www.adobe.com
