Session Description:
Our current society is one of more cultural diversity than ever before. This diversity has provided even more facets to the "typical" or "normal" development and behaviors we look for and expect from our youth. Oftentimes in our attempt to appreciate and understand our youth’s uniqueness, it can be difficult to sift through some of their behaviors, especially those that appear as red flags and cause us concern. This interactive presentation will provide attendees guidance on these matters by meeting four objectives.
Session Objectives:
Participants will:
1. increase their understanding of what is considered "normal child development"
2. be able to identify 3 indicators of problematic issues that may need to be further evaluated
3. learn when to refer a child for treatment and to what type of resource
4. gain communication and support tools for the child and family
