This session will provide healthcare and public health professionals with a framework for identifying the best evidence to guide patient care and public health decisions, including practical tips for answering clinical questions.

Healthcare professionals diagnose Diabetes Mellitus at an alarmingly increasing rate throughout the United States. Participants in this HealthTecdl presentation will learn about the epidemiologic impact of the increased rate of DM diagnoses, learn about the latest pharmacologic treatment options, and best practice therapy goals for patients with DM. Presenter Camille Crawford, Pharm.D., is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Houston Medical Center, in Warner Robins, GA.

This event is an introduction to the concepts inherent in "Crew Resource Management", a behavioral focus on the critical communication necessary among workers in high-risk industries, such as Healthcare.

Dr. Dinh relates the history of ovarian cancer therapy from the early 1950’s until present. He discusses the histology of malignant epithelial ovarian cancer and its diagnosis. Dr. Dinh addresses the debate of what precedes the other: surgery or chemotherapy? The session then relates the development of Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy, as well as peritoneal plasma ratio, treatment regimen, and hematologic toxicities. Dr. Dinh describes new drugs and strategies for ovarian cancer treatment by data that analyses proportion of patients alive without progression over time.

The session provides allied health and other healthcare providers with the tools to clearly and efficiently help patients succeed with diabetes management. This content will enable the learner to drive home key diabetes management messages detailing both complex and data driven aspects of patient self care actions for success.

Join Dr. Kenworth Holness, of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA, as he discusses what health care disparities are and who is affected, why disparities exist, and what steps are being taken by clinical care providers to reduce and eliminate health care disparities. Dr. Holness will also discuss specific tools individual providers can use in their practices to address these barriers to care.
