Dr. Durado Brooks shares details regarding the colorectal cancer incidence across the nation and within the borders of Georgia, trends in the incidence and the mortality rates of colorectal cancer. He discusses modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors of colorectal cancer and provides data from research regarding a proper cancer risk assessment.

The federal government has adopted the patient centered medical home model within the Veterans Administration. Across the country, private and community based practices are looking for guidance on how they can do the same. This is a new concept with goals to include increased patient access, care coordination, health information technology and payment reform. Ultimately successful integration of the PCMH should achieve the goal of better care, improved health outcomes, and lower costs.

The indicators of elder abuse may be obvious. In many instances the indicators are subtle, not so obvious. The intent of this program will be to develop skills for identifying the indicators that are not obvious as we sharpen our skills for identifying the obvious indicators of abuse.
