Session Description: According to the American Physical Therapy Association, the need for physical therapists is expected to grow by 30 percent over the next ten years. Interested in working with children? Pediatric therapists specialize in providing physical, speech, and occupational support for children (ages birth – 21 years). Speech and language pathologist Jamie Steele and physical therapist Diana Garcia form Floyd Medical Center will provide students and educators of all ages and levels with an overview about what it takes to become a pediatric therapist and the opportunities available in this exciting career path.
Session Objectives:
- Learn about the high school preparation to enter the careers involving Pediatric Therapy
- Learn about the college admission/educational requirements, work settings, and salaries
- Be exposed to the focus, scope, trends, and future in the discipline of Pediatric Therapy
Technology Requirements:
Participants registering for programs should have access to the following technology for best viewing and participation:
- Personal computer with Macintosh or Windows with 512 MB of RAM
- Broadband internet connection such as an office LAN, DSL, or cable modem
- Phone next to personal computer (or speaker phone if multiple people are viewing)
