About Magnolia Coastlands Area Health Education Center (AHEC)
The Magnolia Coastlands AHEC is a program in cooperation with the College of Health and Human Sciences at Georgia Southern University. It is a member of the Statewide AHEC Network which is a partnership coordinated by the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University School of Medicine. The MCAHEC program office is the Morehouse School of Medicine.
Our purpose is to increase the supply and distribution of health professionals utilizing four strategies: health careers recruitment of young people, development of community based clinical training opportunities for students who are in a health professions program, provision of continuing education to health professionals, and development of outreach librarian services.
The mission of the Magnolia Coastlands AHEC is to increase access to health care by improving the supply and distribution of health professionals in the 39 county service area, through community and academic partnerships.
