About SOWEGA-AHEC
SOWEGA-AHEC is a healthcare workforce development initiative whose goals are to cultivate a workforce that more closely matches the state’s population in diversity, to assure that each community has enough practitioners in the right disciplines, particularly primary care, and ultimately to improve access to quality healthcare for everyone. We strive to connect students to careers, professionals to communities, and communities to better health.
Our mission is to create and sustain community driven, regional programs which promote health care access for medically underserved Georgians by improving the quality, education, supply, distribution and retention of health care professionals. Programs foster action and advocacy and are implemented through community and academic partnerships.
