About Three Rivers AHEC
Three Rivers AHEC was established in 1994 and is based in Columbus, Georgia serving 28 counties in the west central section of the state. Three Rivers AHEC is part of the Statewide AHEC Network, which focuses on health professions workforce development projects.
Our programs include 1) health careers recruitment and awareness initiatives that increase the competitiveness of disadvantaged and minority youth in the higher education applicant pool, 2) a network of community-based training sites and support to reduce the barriers so health professions students can obtain the required clinical training hours, 3) continuing education programming for health professionals for the purposes of continued quality of care for patients via increased clinical competencies and for licensure requirements, 4) HealthTecdl which is a distance learning video and web conferencing network aimed at bridging crucial connections between health care providers and nonprofit health organizations; and 5) educational support to reduce professional isolation and enhance the practice environment which aid in the retention of primary care providers in rural Georgia.
