Coalitions Work

Program Description

Ignite! Getting Your Community Coalition Fired Up for Change is a four-part online course that is based on a 2013 book by Dr. Frances Butterfoss by the same name. In this series, the process of building and sustaining a coalition is compared to the process of planning, building, fueling, and sustaining a campfire. The series includes: Before You Build It, Build It, Make It Work and Sustain It. This online course is filled with useful tools that spark ideas and resources to jump-start or "fire up" communities for healthy, lasting change. From how to gather the best team, to identifying financial partners, the series will serve as a field guide for communities to mobilize those who are ready to build and sustain community coalitions to promote health and prevent disease. In this program, Dr. Butterfoss discusses the first part of the four steps to coalition building: Before You Build It.
