Program Description
Research studies of medical academic programs that have implemented either extended rural clerkships, selective admissions for family medicine or primary care studies, and/or entirely separate tracks for primary care show evidence that these programs are effective in encouraging and maintaining medical students' interest in rural primary care. Medical schools in Georgia and in other states with a significant need for rural health care providers can benefit from developing these tracks. The proposed webinar will highlight an academic program with a defined rural health track for students' medical education, including the institutional mission, required commitments from students, and the student experience. The target audience will include medical academic program administrators and representatives, pre-med undergraduate students, and community non-profits focused on primary care and rural health.
Learning Objectives
